Obituary for Kermit R. Smallwood Kermit R. Smallwood, age 90, of Carleton, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Medilodge of Monroe in Monroe, Michigan. Born on June 22, 1928 in Dorton, Kentucky, he was the son of Jim and Margie (Elkins) Smallwood. On September 17, 1949 he married Dortha Cable in Pikeville, KY.

He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952 He was employed with Chrysler Engine Trenton Plant as an Inspector for 32 years until retiring in 1986. Kermit was a member of the UAW and 32 degree Mason with the Hiram Lodge #110 F&AM. He enjoyed woodworking, leather working, knife building and gardening.

He was preceded in death by parents Jim and Margie Smallwood, wife Dortha Cable, brothers Chester, Charles, Herbert and Jim Jr., sisters Guasta Reynold, Alka Fore, Sue Hacker and Donna Lee Smithy. He is survived by his sons, Jerry Smallwood and Dennis (JoAnn) Smallwood both of Carleton; daughters, Ruth Ann (Raymond) Miles of Monroe and Shirley (Mark) Brafford of NC; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home Carleton Chapel on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 11:00 am. Rev. David M. Miles, Sr. will officiate the service.

Burial will be in Carleton Cemetery, Carleton, Michigan. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Promedica Hospice. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Kermit R. Smallwood please visit our Sympathy Store.
