Obituary for Kevin Mitrisin Kevin Mitrisin, 56, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa. He was born January 21, 1962, in Chateauroux, France, the son of Lawrence and Helene Carrat Mitrisin. The family came to the United States on July 13, 1962.
He graduated from the Oskaloosa Senior High School with the class of 1981. Kevin worked with old Mahaska Diamond Shelter, now Imagine the Possibilities and C.O.C. in Oskaloosa. He was a fixture at the Oskaloosa HyVee store, working there for 28 years, without missing a single day of work.
He always came to work an hour to hour and a half early to visit with his co-workers and customers before reporting for work. Additionally, Kevin worked at Pizza Ranch for 11 years, and cleaned the Oskaloosa Water Dept. office for a number of years.
Kevin was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and loved cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and was a fan of NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon. He loved “going out” with family and friends. His family includes his parents, Larry and Helene Mitrisin of Oskaloosa; a sister and her husband, Nathalie and Dean Lathrop, Albia, and a brother and his wife, Steve and Kristie Mitrisin of Columbia, Missouri; nephews and nieces: Michael (& Jill) Lathrop and Chad Lathrop; and Drew (& Angie) Mitrisin, and Annie Mitrisin; also surviving are a great niece, Taegen, and great nephews, Luke and Jag; and several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
Kevin was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend John Spiegel officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Thursday after 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday to greet friends and relatives. There will be a Christian Vigil Service on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel.
