Mr. Jesse Lamar Bishop, 76, entered into rest Friday evening, November 2, 2018, at his home on Speed Limit Road near Estill. Born March 20, 1942, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Paschal L. Bishop, Sr. and the late Bessie Lee Polk Bishop. He retired from Westinghouse in Hampton and was a member of the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Hudson Masonic Lodge, No. 373 – Ancient Free Masons in Islandton, where he was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason and he also held a dual membership at the Crocketville Masonic Lodge, No. 248 – Ancient Free Masons in Crocketville.

He was a member of the York Rite in Hampton. He will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Surviving are: his wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Emma Turner Bishop; two daughters, Melissa Bishop O’Quinn and her husband John of Williams and Kathy Bishop Heath and her husband Tom of Aiken; a son, James Lamar Bishop and his wife Hope of Nixville; and two sisters, Catherine Valentine of Islandton and Mary Phillips of Beaufort.

There are six grandchildren that also survive, Jordan O’Quinn, Nathan Cooper, Tommy O’Quinn, Emma Bishop, Ella Grace Heath, and Elizabeth Bishop. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lamar Bishop; a brother, Paschal L. Bishop, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Crosby. Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Monday morning, November 5, 2018, from Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, Hwy 3 and Mt.

Carmel Road, Nixville. The Reverend Dewey L. Shaffer officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the churchyard.
