LaMar Parsons, age 86, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Sanctuary at St. Paul’s in South Bend, IN. LaMar was born on September 4, 1932 in South Bend to J. Glen and J. Irene (Small) Parsons. On November 11, 1951, LaMar married his Riley High School sweetheart, Annelies “Annie” Petzke, who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Douglas and James Parsons; daughter, Linda Parsons Sarber; four grandchildren, Kevin Parsons, Jeffrey (Natalie) Parsons, Joshua (Rachel Showers) Sarber, and Mellisa (Jonathon Krzywicki) Sarber; and six great-grandchildren, Sophia and Kasen Sarber, Myles and Oliver Parsons, Fauna and Rowan Krzywicki. LaMar was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He served in many capacities at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church—as Sunday school superintendent, vice president of the congregation, deacon, and usher.

LaMar worked in sales most of his life. One of his biggest pleasures was classic cars. LaMar had a 1930 Model A Ford that he used for the Mishawaka parade for several years.

He loved to go to car shows, particularly with his sons. He and his wife loved to take cruises and saw many countries. A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th Street, South Bend, IN.

Pastor Steven Latzke will officiate. The family will receive guests before the service from 1:30-2:30pm at the church on Friday. Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of LaMar may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th Street, South Bend, IN 46615, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left for the Parsons family at www. palmerfuneralhomes.com.
