Larry Alan Vaughn passed away Friday September 28, 2018 at his home. Larry was born October 26, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to P.F.C. Leon A. Vaughn and Audrey Allen Vaughn. His father was killed in action in the Philippines during WW II on October 18, 1944, preceding Larry’s birth.

His mother passed away September 2, 2001. Larry grew up in the Shawnee Mission School system graduating from S.M. East in 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma in 1968.

Larry was a wholesale credit manager in the food industry. He was a member of the National Association of Credit Management and a past chairman of the K.C. Wholesale Food Group. He was a past president of the Ward Parkway Estates Homes Association.

He worked as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service and retired after twenty years of service. Larry was a world traveler having been to eleven countries on four continents. He delighted in sharing humorous experiences with others and he had a joke to tell on nearly every subject.

He enjoyed making people laugh and brightening their day. Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 6:30-8:00 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. A graveside service will be at 1:00pm Friday, October 5th in the mausoleum chapel at Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost.

Entombment will follow the service.
