Mr. Powell was born August 2, 1956 in Springhill, Louisiana to Homer and Melissa Powell. He loved the outdoors, fishing and guns.

He always had a glass of sweet tea with him. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was always helping others even if it meant him going without. His daughter, Krista was the apple of his eye and his biggest pride and joy and he had no issue saying so.

Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph Powell and Glen Powell; and one sister, Vivian Allen. He is survived by two sons, Shane Powell and wife, Patricia of Austin, TX and Shannon Powell of Hallsville, TX; one daughter, Krista Shaw and husband, Jeff of Franklinton, NC; eight grandchildren, Anhalica Marie Powell, Micha Wayne Powell, Alison Nicole Powell, Emily Page Powell, Preston Gage Powell, Sonya Sage Powell, Katie Elle Shaw and Ana Claire Shaw; two brothers, Ricky Powell and wife, Sharon of Springhill, LA and Douglas Powell of Taylor, AR; five sisters, Eva Stuckey and husband, Herman of Vidalla, LA; Patsy Burkett and husband, William of Taylor, AR; Jimmie Dritchler and husband, Hans of Burleson, TX; Jeanie Bland and husband, Charles of Walker Creek, AR; and Martha North and husband, Steve of Princeton, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Honoring Mr. Powell as pallbearers will be Bubba Powell, Gary Ware, Charles Burell, Tommy Davis, Mark Morgan, Pat Gunnels, Brian North, Lloyd Clement and Jessie Powell.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at State Line Cemetery in Taylor, AR with Bro. Jonathan Montgomery officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Taylor.
