Obituary for Larry Veitenheimer Larry Dean Veitenheimer, 55, of Manhattan, passed away on April 8th, 2018 after being involved in a car accident outside of Bozeman. He was born in Missoula on September 26, 1962 to Willy and Regina Veitenheimer. As a young man, he attended Central School in East Missoula and enjoyed playing on many various sports teams.
As a high school student, he carried forward his love for athletics when he moved to Westport, Washington to attend Ocosta High School. He played on Ocosta’s football and basketball team, leading the football team as quarterback both his junior and senior years. Following this, he went on to attend University of Montana, graduating with a degree in Education while serving in the National Guard.
He moved to Denver, Colorado in the early 1990’s, working in the Colorado School system. Following this, he obtained a management position with Penske Trucking Company. This was the start of over 20 years retail management experience he accrued with various companies including 7Eleven, Burlington Coat Factory, and Ross Dress For Less.
Later, in February of 2015, he found his home at Town Pump, a job which was not only rewarding but also resulted in many close friendships. Football was a love of Larry’s from an early age but he also developed an appreciation for hockey over the years. One of his favorite pastimes was watching games of his favorite professional teams, the St. Louis Rams and the Colorado Avalanche.
Throughout his life he also enjoyed boating, biking, and jet skiing. In more recent years, hiking around various Montana locations with his daughter Bailey served as his favorite activity. Larry is preceded in death by his father; Willy “Bill” Veitenheimer.
He is survived by his daughter Bailey and his son Gage as well as his siblings Sheena, Rene, and Tom (Maureen “Mo”) and his mother, Regina; nephew Drew Veitenheimer and niece Ember James. Larry was a loving father, son, and friend and will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held 4:00 PM Saturday April 14, 2018 at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula, interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery Annex and a reception at the funeral home.
