Larry E. Moens, 67, of Colona, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at UnityPoint Health, Trinity Rock Island. A memorial visitation will be on Friday, June 1, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38h Ave, Moline. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A graveside service will be Saturday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline with a luncheon to follow. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established in his name. Larry was born March 26, 1951, in Moline, the son of LeRoy and Helen Osborn Moens.

He married Rene’ A. Welch on April 15, 1972, in Keithsburg, IL. Larry worked as a welder at John Deere Harvester in East Moline for 37 years. During his time at Harvester he held various positions within UAW Local 865, including serving as President the last six years before retiring in 2011.

He was involved with the Junior Panther Football program for many years serving as a coach, equipment manager and on the executive board. He was an avid Cubs fan and liked sitting outside and listening to their games on the radio. Most of all, he enjoyed being involved with his family and bringing them all together for baseball trips and summer vacations.

Survivors include his wife, Rene’; three children, Brandon (Jackie) Moens, Lake Villa, IL, Kendra (Kirk) Ramirez, Moline, and Brian (Sandra) Moens, Silvis; five grandchildren, Ryan Moens, Zander Moens, Mara Ramirez, Lena Ramirez and Greyson Moens; and sister, Debby (John Carsell), East Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Michael Moens.
