Larry’s Obituary Larry F. Mackinder, 75, of Peckville, died Saturday at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Alyce Hill Mackinder. They were married for 45 years.

Born in Scranton on March 4, 1943, son of the late Joseph and Pasquelena Lena Mangiola Mackinder, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School class of 1962. He was a retired courier for Clinical Labs and always loved to stay busy with many side jobs. He was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather who was their biggest fan in all of their activities.

He loved Valley View Cougar sports, fishing and was the founder of Weekend Bass Challengers. He was an animal lover and loved his pets, Lily and HiSox. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Traditional Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they gave to Larry.

Also surviving are a daughter, Susan Mackinder and her fiancé, Joe Brigandi, Wildwood, N.J.; a son, Scott Mackinder and wife, Kristen, Archbald; a sister, Francine Douaihy and husband, Tom, Dunmore; five grandchildren, Jillian Ihnken and her husband, Eddie; Kelsi Mozart and fiancé, Cameron Weaver; Zack Mozart, Matthew and Sean Mackinder; sister-in-law, Karen Remick; brother-in-law, Bruce Hill and wife, Marion; an aunt and uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Harrison Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Archbald. Viewing will be held 4 to 7.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to either the American Cancer Society or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
