Obituary for Larry Gene Miller Larry Gene Miller, 78, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Grand Island Veterans Home. A memorial service and celebration of Larry’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home with military honors provided by the United States Navy and Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 until service time.

Larry was born on August 18, 1940 at Doniphan, the son of Roy and Evelyn (Meinecke) Miller. He grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High with the class of 1958. On August 12, 1958 he entered the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on August 17, 1961.

Larry was united in marriage to Karen Arp on November 1, 1964 in Grand Island where they made their home. In 1966 he went to work for Motor Engineering Works, retiring in 2002. Larry was a past member of the Platt Duetsche, Eagles and the American Legion.

He loved the classic old cars and during the 60’s and 70’s was a fan of stock car racing, working on the car engines. Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Karen; sons, Aron (Nok) of Grand Island and Sean (Bridgett) Miller of Plattsmouth, NE; three beloved granddaughters, Haley, Ayame and Erykah; sister, Janet Gilleyen of Colorado; three nephews, Barry, Bruce and John; and three nieces, Michelle, Sarah and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-brother, Joseph Ballard; brothers-in-law, David Gilleyen and Duane Arp; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chett and Joan Felske.
