OBITUARY Larry Lee Bales January 25, 1938 – January 28, 2019 Larry Lee Bales, age 81 of Edinburg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019. He was born January 25, 1938, in Fairbury, Nebraska, to parents Neville L. and Lillian Alice (Overhalser) Bales. Larry graduated from Alliance High School in 1956 and proudly served in the US Navy.

He retired from Morgan Engineering in Alliance in 2000. Larry was a devoted member of New Testament Baptist Church, where he was an active member of their outreach ministries. He truly enjoyed the time spent with his church family.

Larry also enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his basement shop. In his younger years, Larry enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle and also was a member of the Balsa Bees RC Airplane Club. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Joyce Bales, his children: Annette McClean, Ted Austin, Gary Lee (Jann) Bales, Jim (Julie) Austin, Cynthia (Robert) Schmid, George (Jessica) Austin, Jeffrey (Tammy) Austin, and David (Maria) Bales, along with his 34 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fred Bales, his sister Nona Bales, his son Bobby Austin, and his daughter Elizabeth Bales. Friends and family will be received Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with a Celebration of Life officiated by Pastor Bob Burgess following at 11:00 AM at the New Testament Baptist Church. Private interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.
