OBITUARY Wayne James Viall April 9, 1930 – January 6, 2019 Wayne James Viall, 88, of Ravenna, with his family by his side, passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 6, 2019. Wayne was born in North Hampton, Ohio on April 9, 1930 to William and Beulah (Slusser) Viall. Wayne moved to Ravenna as a young boy and graduated from Ravenna High School where he played and lettered in football, baseball, track and basketball.

Mr. Viall was one of the hardest working men around, operating his dairy farm alongside his wife Sally until the age of 87, and driving Ravenna School buses for over 42 years. Many of those years were spent driving the band and athletic teams which helped to develop his love of all Ravenna sports. Wayne enjoyed showing cattle at the Randolph Fair for over 20 years.

Wayne is survived by the love of his life, Sally, who would have celebrated 62 years of marriage on March 23, 2019 and his children: Susan (Darrell) Barnette, James (Mary) Viall, Joan (Hank Bohnert) Kester. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael, Patricia, Amber, Ashley, Jamie, Ryan, Kristi, Hanna and nine great-grandchildren. Wayne will also be sadly missed by his Dalmatian “Marbles”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William “Sonny” Viall, Wendell Viall and his sister Katherine Fertig. Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Lovejoy, will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 11, at 11:00am.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Wayne’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his caretakers: Janna Turpel and Sheila Perkins and the Signal Hospice team of Debbie, Chris and Joan. Condolences and memories may be shared at wood-kortright-borkoski.com.
