Larry Neal Dickens, age 66 of Old Hickory, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019. Larry was a loving husband, father, and brother. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the US Navy from ’71-’74.

He then spent nearly 20 years on the Metro Police Department. Upon that retirement, he became a Drug and Alcohol Abuse counselor with various organizations, most recently, Cumberland Heights; spending the better part of his life helping people in every way. Larry was a man of many interests over the years.

He was an avid sports fan and player as well as enjoying cooking, poetry, gardening, watching the bird feeders and observing wild life in general. He went all out decorating for the 4th of July and Christmas and enjoyed his Harley Davidson. He also was a historian of his hometown, Old Hickory.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Barbara Dickens. He is survived by his wife and companion of 12 years, Dana Dickens; children, Christopher Neal Dickens, Samantha Dickens (Savion Moran), and step-son, Derrick Wilson (Amber); brother, Keith Dickens (Beatris); and a four-legged child, Harley. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Sunday, February 24.
