Lash Larue Hammonds (Papa Lash), of Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully on 2/2/2019 at SRMC. The funeral service will be held at Revel’s Funeral Home at 3575 N. Roberts Ave. , Lumberton, NC.

Preacher Gerald Goins will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Revel’s. Burial will follow the funeral at Oxendine Cemetery immediately following burial.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Revel’s Funeral Home. Lash was born July 26th, 1948 in Lumberton NC and served 3 years as a Sargent in the United States Army. After serving his time in the military Lash begin his career working in upholstery.

Lash loved going to the race and enjoyed his collection of hats. Not only did his grands and great grands love him the children in the neighborhood did too. They all called him “Papa Lash”.

He was full of love and laughter. Always having a smile on his face. Lash is survived by Dale Hammonds (wife), son Billy Ray Jones (Katrina), 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren (Michelle and LJ of the home), Brothers Larry (Vickie) Hunt, Timmy “Beef” (Marsha) Hunt, Glen (Annette) Porter, best friend Jerry Oxendine and special cousin Ann Porter and other family and friends.

Lash is preceded in death by Mother Bertha Mae “Micey” Porter and Father Bill Hammonds, Brother Terry Hunt and Sister Mona Lisa Hunt. The family of Lash Larue Hammonds wishes to thank everyone for the phone calls, prayers and visits during our time of bereavement.
