Laurene Walters, 85, died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. She was born on September 6, 1933 on the family farm near Fellsburg, KS, the daughter of Olav Levi and Hazel Gertrude (Hixon) Weese. On February 3, 1952, she married Thomas James Walters at Wichita, KS.

He preceded her in death on September 9, 2001. Laurene was a member of the First Christian Church in Pratt, KS. She is survived by a son, Steve Walters of Larned, KS, a daughter, Bobbi Walters of Denver, CO, three sisters, Daphne ‘Boots’ Tyler of Tulsa, OK, Vena Holland of Surprise, AZ, Betty Hemphill of Napa, ID, 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, Tom Walters. Memorial service will be Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS. Inurnment will be at Sunset Cemetery in Cullison, KS.

Memorials may be made to the Pratt Area Humane Society, 1st Christian Church of Pratt, Ronald McDonald House or the Hutchinson Hospice House in care of the mortuary.
