“Kay” Hemphill, 89, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 at Parkwood Village in Pratt. She was born October 21, 1929 in Belpre to Mark and Opal (Land) Henning. She married Dean Eugene Hemphill on April 8, 1948 in Macksville.

He preceded her in death on January 17, 2015. Kay was a homemaker and kept the books for the family farm as well as their Pioneer Seed business. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, mowing and taking care of the flowers, doing jigsaw puzzles and word searches and watching KU basketball.

She is survived by her five children, Mark (Verda) Hemphill of Newton, Susan (Bob) Steiger of McKinney, Texas, Dick (Sherry) Hemphill of Pratt, Brenda (David) Moon of Derby and Debbie (Gary) Goeller of Benton; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; brother, Don Henning; and great grandson, Jensen Rosenbaum. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Larrison Mortuary. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Byers. Memorials may be made to Parkwood Village or Kindred Hospice in care of Larrison Mortuary.
