James D. McMahan, 82, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 15, 1936 in Great Bend, KS, the son of Hubert McMahan and Sylvia (Brown) McMahan. James was a member of the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, KS and a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Surviving are four children, Belinda (Gary) Bagby of Hutchinson, KS, James Bryan (Mary) McMahan of Grandbury, TX, Debra (Earl) VanRanken of Medicine Lodge, KS, and Jerry Duane McMahan of Great Bend, KS; Eight grandchildren, Michael Ashley, Ryan Keast, Jason (Tara) McMahan, Aubrey (Chris) Broach, Katlyn West, Kilie West, Earl (Callie) VanRanken, III and Nikki VanRanken; Eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and Jack McMahan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastor Tom Walters officiating.

Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104. Condolences may be left at www.
