Laveda Cannon August 04, 1931 – March 19, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Laveda Mae Cannon was born, at home near Dempsey, Oklahoma, on August 4, 1931 to Julia Elizabeth (Erwin) and Aubrey Bryan Parman. She passed away March 19, 2019 in the Clinton Therapy and Living Center at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 15 days. Laveda attended Reydon Public School and graduated in 1949.

She was married to Herbert Cannon at Wheeler, Texas on August 28, 1949. After living for a short time in Arnett, Oklahoma and on the farm near Dempsey, they moved to Sayre, Oklahoma in 1952 where she worked for Mr. Coogan and later for Mr. Springfield. In 1963 they moved to Stigler, Oklahoma and then in 1966 they moved to Beaver, Oklahoma.

Laveda worked for Northern Natural Gas Company at Elmwood and later at the First National Bank in Beaver. In 1972, they moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma where she and Herb purchased the Cheyenne Insurance Company and later ran the Green Light Automotive until retirement in 1983. Laveda was always active in the community where she lived.

She had been a member of the Sorosis Club, Platonic Club, and a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Herb and Leveda loved to travel with the Wally Byam Travel Club where they made many friendships. She was a member of the Cheyenne United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Laveda loved preparing for the funeral dinners at the church, taking food to the bereaved, and decorating birthday and wedding cakes for numerous family and friends. She loved to sew, crochet, and knit and she cherished giving away her handmade items. She was always looking for ways to help someone else.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and 3 brothers. She is survived by 4 nephews, Bob Parman and wife Barbara of Pahrump, Neveda, Garry Parman and wife Janet of Gresham, Oregon, Larry Parman and wife Terry of Gresham, Oregon, Randy Parman and wife Denise of Cheyenne Oklahoma; 3 nieces, Marveda Parman of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Kathy Tidwell and husband Doug of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Dayna Coker and husband Dewayne of Reydon, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law Neva Churchhill and husband Sy of Cheyenne, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Dempsey Cemetery fund.
