Lorene Grossman September 19, 1927 – May 28, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Lorene Margaret Grossman was born September 19, 1927 in Foss, Oklahoma to Frances (Merz) and George T. Kamphaus. She passed away May 28, 2019 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 9 days. Lorene grew up in the Canute, Oklahoma area and attended school at St. Frances and Holy Family school.
At the age of 17 she was married to George Michael Grossman at Holy Family Catholic Church in Canute, Oklahoma on September 19, 1944. After their marriage they moved to Norman, Oklahoma while George taught aviation ordinance for the United States Navy. After George was discharged he and Lorene returned to their farm south of Canute where they raised their family.
Lorene held various jobs but always valued her time spent working at the A & A Café with her 2 sisters Agnes and Ragine. In 2000 Lorene and George moved to Elk City where they made their home and enjoyed retirement. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was known far and wide for her famous cinnamon rolls.
Lorene also enjoyed Facebook, reading, gardening, baking, spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons, Rick Grossman and Randy Grossman; granddaughter, Ashley Crabtree; 1 brother, Eddie Kamphaus; 5 sisters, Agnes Schones, Catherine Spitz, Bernadine Toelle, Ragine Schones and Dolores Greteman. She is survived by 2 daughters, Janie Crabtree and husband, John, Choctaw, OK and Lorri Baden, Elk City, OK; 2 sons, Kim Grossman and wife, Errol, Weatherford, OK, Joe Grossman and wife, Sharon, Yukon, OK; 20 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Prayer Vigil Services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Whinery Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 10:00 AM at the St. Matthews Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service.
