Obituary for LaVern Brau LaVern Brau, 91, died Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City. He was born April 19, 1927 in Lakeview, South Dakota the son of Albert John Brau, Sr. and Clara Ellen (Ratigan) Brau. LaVern attended school at Jesuit Mission School in Lakeview, South Dakota.

The family later moved to Scott City, Kansas in the early 1940’s. He served in the United States Army from September 1950 to July 1952. LaVern married Georgia Bea Kline in Scott City, Kansas.

He was a builder and lived and worked in Western Kansas. He later moved to Arkansas where he worked at Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale, Arkansas. He later moved to Garden City, Kansas and has lived in Garden City since.

Survivors include his sister, Marline Brau (Sister Annrene Brau) of Independence, Kansas. LaVern is preceded in death by his wife Georgia; his parents; 4 brothers Albert Brau, Jr., his twin Leonard Brau, Martin James Brau, and Marvin Brau; 2 sisters Mary Ann Binns and Norma Lee Chandler McCrory; his half-brothers Lawrence, George, Paul, & John; and a half-sister Louise Brau Head. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas with Fr.

Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. A family interment will take place at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. There will be no calling hours.

The family suggests memorials given to the VFW’s of Garden City or Scott City both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
