Obituary for Joe Rodriguez Joe C. Rodriguez, age 81, of Elkhart, Kansas died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, Kansas. He was born December 8, 1936 in Elkhart, Kansas, the son of Basilio and Delores (Reese) Rodriguez. Joe was a lifetime resident of Elkhart, Kansas.

Joe graduated from Elkhart High School, worked at Robertson Grocery store and Elkhart Lumberyard before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. After Joe’s service in the Army, he returned to Elkhart and went back to work for the Elkhart Lumberyard and later worked at Panhandle Eastern for 30 years. After his retirement, Joe work for USD #218 as a school custodian.

Joe loved woodworking, painting houses and yardwork. Joe was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Elkhart, Kansas. Joe married Nancy Wyatt on November 28, 2005 in Elkhart, Kansas, she survives.

Other Survivors include three sons; Kenneth Elliott, Dalhart, Texas, Michael Rodriguez, Elkhart, Kansas, Buck Rodriguez, Liberal, Kansas, step-children; Barbara Beckstand, Preston, Idaho, Richard Elliott, Chicago, Illinois, TJ Lasley, Duncan, Canada, five bothers; Gilbert Rodriguez, Syracuse, Kansas, Richard Rodriguez, Rolla, Kansas, Chuck Rodriguez, Dallas, Texas, David Rodriguez, Columbus, Georgia, Raul Rodriguez, Elkhart, Kansas, 16 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren. Joe is also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Jody, one son; Joel and one sister; Mary. Vigil and Rosary will be held Monday, September 24, 2018, 7:00 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart, Kansas.

Graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Kansas with Reverend Francis Khoi Nguyen officiating and Military graveside rites. Friends may call on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Elkhart, Kansas. Family requests memorials be given to the Knights of Columbus, Elkhart, Kansas in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. 854, Elkhart, Kansas 67950.
