Obituary for LaVerne Agnes Wagoner LaVerne Agnes Herberman Wagoner, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Graduate of Anchorage High School class of 1940, she was a devout member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Prospect, and its Young at Heart Senior Ministry. Her volunteer activities included The Queen’s Daughters and Meadowview Nursing Home.
LaVerne and her husband were among the original parishioners at Mother Good Council Catholic Church, where she served in a variety of volunteer capacities including CCD teacher and Eucharist Minister. A devoted mother of three, she was a dedicated homemaker. Additionally, she worked as a secretary at Tatum Embry then later Mother Good Council Elementary until she retired in 1976.
She was an avid seamstress and skilled card player, as an active member of her bridge club for over 40 years. LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents August and Elizabeth Vogelsang Herberman; and her two elder sisters Thelma Schindler and Margret “Margie” Murphy. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Joseph “Buck” Wagoner and her children: Joann W. Clemons, Mark J. Wagoner (Wendy), and Christopher J. Wagoner (Jill Morris); six grandchildren: Michael Wagoner (Kristen), Katie Valchos (Nick), Colleen Hartley (Chris), Mollie Wagoner (Qifei Zeng), Jennifer Lett (Alan) and Lauren Miller (Brad); and eight great-grandchildren: Thomas, Emily, Ember, Brandr, Griffin, Hunter, Reese, and Zoe.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, December 29 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, 6500 St. Bernadette Ave, Prospect, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00pm Friday, December 28 at Ratterman’s Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd, “in St. Matthews”. Memorial gifts in her honor may be sent to Mass of the Air, 1200 S. Shelby St., Louisville, Ky.
