Lavora’s Obituary Graveside Service for Lavora Erlene Chamberlain, 83, of Fairview, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Bethel Cemetery. Dennis King will officiate. Cremation arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. Lavora Erlene (Bartow) Chamberlain was born July 9, 1935 in Harper County, Oklahoma to parents Donald Kenneth and Selma Vivian (Kinser) Bartow.

Raised in the Laverne, Oklahoma area and spent a lot of time at her parent’s café, simply called the Black and White Café. When in junior high years, Lavora and her family moved to Oregon where her father worked in the logging camps. They returned to Laverne and Lavora graduated from Laverne High School.

She married Albert Lowell Chamberlain on August 14, 1954 in Raton New Mexico where he worked in the oilpatch. The couple was blessed with five children, Bonnie, Lorrie, Annette, Don and A.L. In 1960, they moved to Chamberlain Hill so that Lavora could help care for her in laws. Lavora was a hard working homemaker.

She sewed clothes for the kids and made their outfits for Easter. Lavora loved attending church at Midway Assembly of God where she was often asked to sing for funerals. She had a caregiver’s heart and spent many hours visiting the sick and elderly in hospitals and nursing homes.

She worked for Eubank Mfg, the laundry at the Fairview Fellowship Home, and cared for people in their homes. She loved reading her Bible, spent time writing short stories and doing creative writing. On her 50th birthday, she water skied slalom.

Being a competitive person, she was not to be outdone and went bungee jumping at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and 1 great grandchild and one son-in-law. Left to mourn her are two sons; A.L. Chamberlain and Ernest Don Chamberlain, three daughters; Annette Thompson and husband Tommy, Lorrie Sawtelle and husband Kevin, and Bonita Chamberlain, ten grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren with number 6 on the way.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, (OMRF), Alzheimer’s division with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
