Lawrence’s Obituary Lawrence Herbert Yochum, 88, of Henryville, IN, passed away at 7:34 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. Born December 17, 1930 in Vincennes, IN, he was the son of Alois Yochum and Bertha (Speth) Yochum, who are both deceased. On January 3, 1953, he married Barbara H. (Houghton) Yochum who survives in Henryville, IN.

Lawrence retired from Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, and was an avid Uno and Euchre player and was known as the “King of Euchre”. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lawrence was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Henryville and Knights of Columbus in Jeffersonville. Lawrence served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Other survivors include his children, Lawrence (Carol) Yochum Jr of Colorado Springs, Co, Laura (Gino) Couch of Charlestown, IN, Hugh H. (Deborah) Yochum Greenville, S.C., Julie Anne (Walter) Gardiner of Hollywood, MD , and Sarah Sue Mayhall of Vincennes, IN, 15 grandchildren, 22 ½ great grandchildren, 1 sister, Veronica West and 1 brother, Raymond (Shirley) Yochum, both of Vincennes, IN, 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Jeanette Yochum and Carol Yochum.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Yochum, John Yochum, George C. Yochum, Alois Yochum, Robert Yochum, James Yochum, and 1 sister, Helen Ann Bouvy. Father Harry Tully will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Henryville, with burial to follow at St. Frances Xavier Catholic Cemetery where a Military graveside services will be conducted by the Sellersburg American Legion. Friends may visit on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary service at 7:30 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes and Crematory in Henryville and after 9:00 AM on Saturday until the service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
