Lee’s Obituary Lee Ernest Davis, 106, passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2019 at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Lee Ernest was born on April 10, 1912 and was educated in Wilcox County, AL. He moved to Springfield in 1955 were he was employed as a laborer, helping to build Baystate Tower.

He was also employed by the O’Connell Construction Co. for 35 years. Ernest had a passion for God, his family, the Boston Red Sox and playing his harmonica. He was predeceased by his parents, George L. and Maybelle (Lee) Davis, his companion, Annie Bell Palmer and 2 wives, Irene (Stone) Davis and Helen (Brown) Davis, 2 daughters, Minnie Lee and Mary A. Hurston, 7 brothers, 6 sisters and 2 step-children.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Washington) Davis, sons, Hamp (Muriel), Bernard (Deborah), John Wesley (Barbara), Eugene Davis and Lee Brown, daughters, Mazola, Brenda (Marques) and Deloris, 44 Grandchildren and 150 plus Great-grandchildren spanning 5 generations of Davis offspring, 3 sisters, 2 brothers-in-law, 4 step-children and their spouses and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. The services for Lee Ernest Davis will be held on January 28th, 2019 at St. John’s Congregational Church, 45 Hancock St., Springfield MA. , 01109.

The wake is from 10 – 11:30am with the funeral to follow immediately thereafter. All professional services are entrusted to Henderson Funeral Home.
