Ann’s Obituary Ann Zella Latimer, 71, a new resident to 74 Mason- Wright Retirement Community, sadly departed this life on February 16th at 12:03 pm, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was born and raised on Calhoun Street in Anderson, South Carolina to Rudolph Latimer and Rosa Lee Latimer. Ann came to Norwalk, Connecticut at the age of 18 years old and worked her first job at Norwalk Hospital in their housekeeping department.

She was very active in civil rights…keeping up with social justice. Her favorite author was Maya Angelou. Her all time favorite gospel singer was Mahalia Jackson.

Ann will always be remembered by her kind and lovable spirit. Her infectious laugh that would brighten up any room. A joy to be around, Ann spent her time in the community, though family is what she valued most.

One of six children, she is pre-deceased by her siblings, RubyAnn Latimer, Rudolph Latimer, Jr. aka Junebug, William Latimer aka Bo, Maryann Latimer, and Alberta Latimer-Giddeon. She is survived by her two children, Darrell Curtis Latimer, and Julain Lorraine and her husband William Shepard, and their father John Major, Jr. Ann was blessed with nine grandchildren; Darron Latimer, Imani Jones, Quentin Floyd, Christian Latimer, Christopher Latimer, Isaiah Latimer, Ajaee Shepard, Maya Shepard, Saadiq Shepard, and one great grandchild, Jamir Floyd-Palmer. She is also survived by an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, a few aunts, other relatives, and many close friends.

She will be missed and never forgotten.
