In her later years, Sheilah was on the Committee of the Primus Mason Community Development Corp and on the Board of Directors of Child and Family Services of Springfield. Sheilah, found her second passion in life which was politics. Over time Sheilah’s desire to be involved in politics allowed her to take on a leadership role in the Western Massachusetts Statehouse Governor office.
She worked alongside William Currier both serving under Governor Michael S Dukakis. This career change helped Sheilah to fulfill her dream of helping people and serving her community. In this role she touched the lives of many people.
She was the go to person if you needed assistance. Sheilah was a type A personality, she spoke truths and didn’t hold back her opinion but would be your best supporter in resolving any issues you may have. Sheilah enjoyed being around her grandsons.
