Leona Margery Denton of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away April 11, 2018 at CHI Mercy Hospital at the age of 98. She was born October 20, 1919 on a farm east of Oakland, Iowa to the late Walter and Elnora (Eichenberger) Busse. She went to country school and later attended Oakland High School, graduating in 1937.

She married Jack Denton on September 14, 1937. They were blessed with two children, Karen and Keith. Jack and Leona farmed for many years east of Oakland.

They started an investment… Read More » business in the early 1960s, at which time they moved to Council Bluffs to pursue their business. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jack, brothers Edwin Busse and Delmar Busse; son-in-law Don Harris. Leona is survived by her daughter, Karen Harris; son, Keith (Georgia) Denton; grandchildren, Bart (Cindy) Jones, Eva Denton (fiancé David Stalling), Ross (Stephanie) Denton; 5 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. on Sunday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00a.m. on Monday at the funeral home followed by a luncheon in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Interment is later that afternoon in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Oakland, Iowa.
