Leonard P. Sutera Leonard Peter Sutera, 74, of Gloucester husband of Jean C. (Blatchford) Sutera passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 10, 2019. He was born in Gloucester on August 26, 1944, son of the late Peter and Frances (Gilardi) Sutera. Lenny was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1962 where he was a lieutenant in ROTC.

He attended Burdett College and later receiving his Bachelor’s degree in business from Boston College. Lenny worked at Elm Farms and then was employed at Americold as the Office Manager. In his spare time you could find him coaching little league, girls softball and pee-wee football.

Lenny enjoyed bowling, golfing with his buddies, dog racing, talking sports and politics. He was a member of the Sparks Club. Most of all, Lenny enjoyed all of his grandchildren.

They meant the world to him. If he wasn’t playing games with them he was the proud grampy in the stands at their sporting events. Lenny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean C. Sutera of Gloucester; his daughters, Lorie Sanfilippo and her husband Gus, Jennifer Costanzo and her husband Jack all of Gloucester; his son, Patrolman Peter Sutera and his wife Caterina of Gloucester; grandchildren, Lily Jean and Anthony Sanfilippo, Salvatore and Jack Costanzo, Zariah, Alexander and Ophelia Sutera; sister-in-law, Mary (Judy) Sutera of Gloucester; 2 brothers-in-law, James Acciavatti of Beverly, Dana Blatchford and his wife Paula of Gloucester and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lillian Sutera, Anna Newman, Bridgette (Betty) Acciavatti and his brother, Joseph (Sonny) Sutera. His funeral service will be held on Friday, February 15th at 9:30 a.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
