Leora (Lee) June (Hartvigsen) Layman (better known as Grandma’ Lee) born on June 27, 1920 in Downey, Idaho, to the late Luetta Brown Hartvigsen and the late Neils Hartvigsen, passed away at age 98 on August 21, 2018 in Bend, Oregon. She graduated from Downey High School in 1938. Leora was preceded in death by her son, Miles Terry Elam; brothers, Vernon, Nels, Arnout, and Clinton; and sisters, Amelia, Jennie, Luetta, Deloris, and Fannie.

She is survived by her son, Todd Layman; daughter, Kristine Layman Smalling; grandchildren, Misty Elam, Tanner Smalling, Tiffany (Layman) Cupp, and Daphne Layman; and great-grandchildren, Charlie Layman-Cupp and Emma Cupp, as well as numerous others she took on as her children and grandchildren. Grandma Lee loved quilting, sewing, knitting, baking (especially her awesome bread), reading, pets, and being a great mother and grandma. She was a member of the LDS church.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, and a volunteer at American Red Cross. As a career early on she chose waitressing and bar tending to make ends meet as well as the one job she referred to as colorful and interesting but would not name. Above all she was the best at being a homemaker and raising her children.

She will be fondly remembered for her great jokes, wonderful stories, mischievous laugh and for her famous line when ask her age, “Age is just a number and mine’s unlisted”. Friends and family members may attend the celebration of life service on Saturday, September 22 from 11:00 to 2:30 p.m. at McMenamin’s Old St. Francis School. Father Luke’s room, 700 N.W.
