Leslie Herbert Henry, of Caldwell, went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2018 at 74 years of age, shortly after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Les was born on March 8, 1944 in Montevideo, Minnesota to John and Fern Henry. The family farmed in Minnesota until they took a trip to Idaho, in 1955 and decided to move to Nampa when Les was 12 years old.
Les attended schools in Minnesota and Nampa graduating in 1962 from Nampa High School. He was the first of his 6 brothers to graduate from High School. Upon moving to Nampa, he attended Bethel Church of the Nazarene, where he met a cute Pilcher girl that would later become his wife.
Les and Marianne married in that church on June 29, 1963 and spent nearly 55 wonderful years together. They had a very special love and devotion to each other and absolutely loved spending time together; they were best friends. To this union were born 3 little girls which Les loved unconditionally.
He was so glad that he had been gifted all girls. Les accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 13. He grew in strength and wisdom and for many years we have enjoyed the fruit of that wisdom from him.
He was faithful to his Lord, faithful to his wife, wise, loving, strong and gentle. Christ was the head of our home and Dad was the head over us. He did his job well.
Les had a special love for animals and when he owned any cattle you could always find him just watching them eat and grow. Les was a truck driver for many years, and to the family’s pride he had over 3 million miles without a chargeable accident. In 2005, he received the Western States Driver of the Year from Holman Transportation, where he was working.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne, children: Evelyn Henry, Susan (Mike) Guess, Bobbi (Jeff) Peterson, 13 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren with 3 Great-Grandsons on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Mary and a nephew Kevin. There will be a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Garden at 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 23rd 2018.
Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. The Celebration of Life for Les will be at Franklin Community Church, 8499 US-20/26 Nampa, Idaho at 2:30pm Wednesday, May 23rd 2018 with a dinner following. To our family and friends, we are deeply grateful for all your love, prayers and support through this difficult time.
A special thank you to Harrison’s Hope Hospice for all your love, care and spirit of excellence to Les and his family. Condolences given at www.
