Lester A. Giesen, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2018. He was born on November 25, 1928, son of the late William and Mabel Giesen. Lester attended Hortonville schools and graduated from Hortonville High School.

He married Shirley (Garvey) Giesen on September 1, 1952, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Lester operated Giesen’s Bar in Stephensville for several years in the 1960’s. He then began his career as a school engineer with the Appleton School District for many years until his retirement.

Lester is survived by a daughter, Chris Wenzel; a son, Chuck (Amy) Giesen; grandchildren: Angela (Brody) Richter, Laura (Ben) Vorwerk, Alyshia Giesen and Brittany Giesen; great grandchildren: Finley and Harlow Richter and Lily Vorwerk; a sister, Jimmie (Don) Wilkenson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernice Giesen, Dan Schultz, Vernon (Elaine) Garvey; many nieces, nephews and other family members. Lester was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley; a daughter, Pamela Giesen; a son-in-law, Alan Wenzel; siblings: Ruth (Stub) Hanson, John (Jane) Giesen, Lawrence (Lucille) Giesen, Bill Giesen and JoAnn Schultz; brothers and sisters-in-law: Alma (Clarence) Weyenberg, Sis (Joe) Romenesko, Vance (Dolores) Garvey, Jerry (June) Garvey, Lowell Garvey, Percy (Bev) Garvey, Milo Garvey, Emily Garvey, Alice Garvey. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr.

Walter Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery.

The Giesen family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at the St. Paul Villa for all of the wonderful care given to Lester.
