Lester’s Obituary Lester Thornton, Sr., 83 of Leesburg, Virginia. Profile of Life Lester Thornton Sr. more affectionately known to family and friends as Fuzzy or Papa was born, Saturday, March 30, 1935 to Charles Edgar Thornton and Mozelle Bowles Thornton in Frederick, Maryland. He was the second of nine children born to this union (10 minutes after his twin brother, Chester).

He received his education from Loudoun County Public Schools. At the age of 12, Lester was baptized at First Baptist Church Sycolin in Leesburg Virginia. He was joined in holy matrimony with Mary Alice Trammell, July 13, 1959 and from this union they were blessed with four children.

At an early age Lester’s first employment was working on a farm in Arcola Virginia. In the early 60’s he met Wayne Holt and worked with Holt Construction Company as a concrete cement finisher. They work together and had a lasting friendship for 25+ years.

Lester was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He had a passion for designing arrangements that he grew in his flower beds. Another passion of his was cooking.

It put a smile on his face to see others enjoying the many meals he prepared at family cookouts. He was also a giver of his time and talents, leaving a lot of wisdom and knowledge with everyone he came in contact with. Lester had a great sense of humor, you could always hear him saying, “I got a joke for you”.

I am sure almost everyone here has a “Lester Story or Joke” to share. Lester Thornton Sr. transitioned to eternal life on Friday, February 8, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He will be truly missed but we know he is resting peacefully with God.
