Lewis Addlesperger, age 92, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center. Born September 25, 1926 to Charles and Maude (nee Shaffer) Addlesperger in Mansfield, Ohio, Lewis graduated from Madison High School where he graduated in 1944. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radioman in the South Pacific.

On a bet, Lewis became a State Highway Patrolman. Later he received his Masters in Education from Cornell University, specializing in math and science. He then became a teacher in the Lorain school district.

In 1952 he met the love of his life, Maryann and the two were married in 1953. He loved challenging his mind, including reading and completing puzzles, math games and even quilting. Both Lewis and Maryann loved to travel and have been to all fifty states and many islands surrounding the United States.

In addition to Cornell, Lewis also attended 10 universities across the United States. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Maryann (nee Scott) Addlesperger; children, Terry Addlesperger and Linda Nelson; grandchildren, Ashley (Clark) Finley, Amber (Jesse) Freeman, Courtney (William) Cherry and Kira (David) Espersen, as well as great grandchildren, Allison, Shannyn, Cole, Collin, Presley and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maude (nee Shaffer) Addlesperger as well as his siblings, Nevella Walker, Lois Addlesperger, Charles Henry Addlesperger, Robert Addlesperger and Jean Swigart.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Honor Flight Cleveland, 724 Coralberry Lane, Madison, OH 44057.
