Obituary for Lewis “Lew” S. George Lewis “Lew’ S. George, 78, of Zanesville, died 11:45 AM, Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Genesis Morrison House Hospice. He was born Sunday, October 6, 1940, in Zanesville, the son of William “Ducky” L. George and Grace F. (Neff) George. He married Nancy M. (Thomas-Goody) George on Saturday, August 14, 1999, and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
Lew served his country as a veteran of The United States Army. He retired as a supervisor from the Muskingum County Garage following many years of service. He loved to travel and was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
Lew was a family man who truly enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Lew is survived by his wife: Nancy George; three children: Aaron George of Freeburg, IL, James & Lori Goody of Norwich, Arlene & Jeff Shaheen of Carmel, IN; twelve grandchildren: Frank (Gia Nelson) Mehling of Zanesville, Annette & Sean King of Norwich, Kelton George & Alyssa George both of Freeburg, IL, Samantha Shaheen, Jessica Shaheen & AJ Shaheen all of Carmel, IN; Cindy & Joe King of Junction City, Christy & Bill Addington of Crooksville, Misty & Trevor Alexander, Chris George and Tyler George all of Lakeland, FL; four great grandchildren: Oceania George, Mekenzie Elkins-King, Micah King, Miley King, Landon Addington, Parker Addington, and Kaliegh King; a daughter-in-law: Tonya George of Lakeland, FL, and one sister: Marcella McGee of Mount Perry. In addition to his parents, Lew was preceded in death by one son: Peter W. George; a daughter-in-law: Deanne George; two brothers: Danny Lee George, Dale E. George and one sister: Orleta K. McCullough.
Lew’s family would like to give a special thanks to Washington Township Fire Department, Cedar Hill Nursing Center and Morrison House Hospice for their kindness, care and compassion offered to Lew during his illness. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the funeral home with Rev.
Jean Teter officiating. Lew will be laid to rest in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with the United States Army, VFW Post 1058 and American Legion Post 29 conducting full military honors.
