Lila Mae Essington Cole, 88, passed into eternity May 24, 2018, surrounded by many of those who loved her. She was born in a small farm house on August 27, 1929 in Wood, South Dakota to Hayden M. Essington and Iva M. Hutchens Essington. She was their only child.

In August 1933, her family moved to Nampa, Idaho, where she resided until her passing. She attended schools in Nampa; graduating from Nampa High School in May 1947. After graduation she worked for several businesses as a bookkeeper, secretary, and office manager: retiring in January 1979.

In July 1948, she married Billie D. Montgomery. To this union her daughter, Sharon, was born. They were later divorced.

In November 1955 she married Ted McMillion who passed away in July 1974. In December 1979 she married Norman Cole who passed away in March 2005. For many years she was a member of the Nampa Good Sam’s Club: holding the offices of Idaho State Treasurer and Idaho State Director.

She was also a member of the Woman’s Century Club: holding the office of President. Lila was a very active and devoted member of the Nampa First Christian Church. Her hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, bowling, quilting, and spoiling her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

During her retirement, Lila and Norm traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Lila is preceded in death by her parents, her three husbands, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Edwards (Richard); granddaughters Becky Taylor-Brooks (Shawn), and Vickie Arnold (Daniel); great-grandchildren Donald, Jale, Ashley, Kagen, Kelley, Levi, Tagen, Lucas, and Gavin; and her great-great-grandchildren Cambri and Rhett.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Saturday June 2, 2018 at Nampa First Christian Church with burial to follow at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. An online guestbook is available at www.
