OBITUARY Lillian M Rogers March 3, 1926 – July 29, 2018 Lillian Monique Rogers, 92, of Beaumont, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Monique was born March 3, 1926 in Elizabeth, Louisiana to Wilburn Curtis Carruth and Lillian Marguerite Foster. She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1943 and became a WWII bride, marrying at 17.

She became a mother at 19 and took great pride in being an exemplary wife, mother and homemaker. She worked as a teacher aide for the Beaumont Independent school District from which she retired. Monique was a very active member of the Church of Christ.

She was an elder’s wife, taught Bible classes, and organized and transported the older women of the church on various outings. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines International chorus, performing and successfully competing as both a chorus member and as part of a quartet. Monique was a flawless seamstress and accomplished at both porcelain painting and cross stitching.

Her works of art became cherished gifts to her family and friends. However, the beauty captured in these items is only a dim reflection of the beautiful spirit of this sweet lady who was known for her gracious, loving and giving nature. Survivors include her sons David Rogers and his wife Kathy of Beaumont, Joel Rogers and his wife Pam of Millbury, Ohio; son-in-law F. DeWayne Barnett of Beaumont; grandchildren Michelle Shoulders, Wendy Taylor, Michael Barnett, Tiffany Murray, Kimberly McKinstry, Jacob Rogers, James Rogers and Markley Rogers; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, James Wendell Rogers; and daughter, Linda Barnett, and her sister Marguerite Carruth. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Buckner Senior Living and Calder Woods’ Staff for the loving care given to Monique during her battle with Alzheimer’s for the past 10 years.
