Lillie Crews, 87, passed away on February 22, 2019 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Bryant and Delmont Poston. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 1920 since 1972 and served in all offices on the local and district level.

She was elected as State President for the year 1985-1986 and was chosen Outstanding State President by National Organization. She was appointed and served on two national chairmanships and two years as secretary of the Southern Conference which is comprised of the 14 southern states. She served on numerus committees and program chairmanships, and was elected and served as NC VFW Auxiliary Treasurer from 1997-2008.

She was appointed by former Governor James B. Hunt and served eight years on his Governors Jobs for Veterans. She was a founding member of the Alamance County War Memorial Committee and served four terms as Secretary and four terms as Chairman. She was also a member of the Alamance County Veterans Service Board.

She is survived by her sons; Gary Chambers and Dwayne Crews, brother; Ivan, grandchildren; David, Jessica Whitson, Kerri Vance, Elizabeth, Cody, and 10 great grandchildren. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her sons, Donald Lee Chambers and Daniel Ray Crews, sister Lucille Brown, brothers; Elton, J.B., Bryant, Gonzalee and Edward. The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 26, 2019 from 5-7 at McClure Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday February 27, 2019 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham.
