Linda Elaine Paul Johnston July 13, 1943 – March 1, 2019 Linda Elaine Paul Johnston, 75, of Wilmington, went to her final resting place with the Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Linda was born July 13, 1943, to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Atwood Paul (Edna Mae Bradshaw). She is survived by her three siblings, Mr. Addie Arthur Paul and his wife June, of Florida, Mrs. Janice Lynn Brown of Virginia, and Mr. Richard Clem Paul and his wife Becky of South Carolina.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, her beloved husband Perry Lee Johnston, her daughter Wendy Lee Gurganious Stanley, and step-son Stephen Shane Johnston. Surviving are her children, Ms. Kimberly Lynn Gurganious Barton, Ms. Kelly Elaine Gurganious Hansen, Mr. Dewayne Johnston and his wife Tammy, and Mr. Kansas Johnston, and his wife Tracy, all of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Mr. Gregory James Thomas, Ms. April Lee Thomas, her husband Chris, Mr. Caleb Lee Hansen, Mr. Alan Gage Hansen, and Mrs. Rachel Hite Butler, her husband Clint; her great-grandchildren, Ms. Haley Thomas, Mr. Jeffrey Sikes, Ms. Lilianna Barton, Ms. Morgan Thomas and Ms. Avery Thomas, her brother-in-law Tim Johnston, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Linda had an exceptional career, working first at the sewing factory in Wallace in her younger years and continued to move up to larger companies such as E.I. Dupont in Leland, General Electric Nuclear energy in Wilmington, and finally to Corning Glass Manufacturing Company in Wilmington where she had worked from September 1985 until her retirement in October of 2000.

Along her career path, she continued her adult education, not only thru her many opportunities at work, but her thirst for knowledge lead her to attend Miller-Motte Business College where she was awarded a Bachelors of Science degree in Wilmington. Both she and her husband Perry became members of the Hampstead Baptist Church where they both continued to follow their quest for knowledge in Christ. She devoted a lot of her time to various Christian ministries and youth activities.

Among those she did have a favorite near and dear to her heart, “Women on Mission”. Linda had proven to be a remarkably strong woman throughout her life. And to no avail, she was a cancer survivor.

She never lost hope nor faith that God is a healing God and thru the Lord, all things are possible. Linda loved her family and friends and always had a hug, smile, and kiss for each of us that came through her front door. She was a very loving, caring person with a big heart who was the caretaker of her family.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in the Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel with funeral services beginning at 1 p.m. The Rev. Joey Cannady will officiate. Burial will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park.
