Lucretia Elon Black December 11, 1928 – March 1, 2019 Lucretia Elon Hancock Black, 90, beloved wife of the Rev. Eugene P. Black of Wilmington, went home to the Lord of Friday, March 1, 2019. Elon was born in Norman, North Carolina on December 11, 1928, and had lived in Rockingham before moving to Wilmington several years ago.

She was a member of the Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church. Besides her husband Eugene, she is survived by her sons, Robert Black and his wife Shelly of Marion, SC, and Randy Black and his wife Maria of Wilmington, and her sister Oneta Snead of Rockingham. She was preceeded in death by her son, Dennis Black, and her parents, John and Nellie Wilson Hancock.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church. Gifts in Elon’s memory may be sent to Half United, 1125 North 4th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401 or to the Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church Missions Department, 800 Piner Rd, Wilmington, NC 28409.
