Amory- Linda Darnell Jones Galloway, 78 died on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the NMMC in Tupelo. She was born December 22, 1940 in Edgar Springs, MO to the late Ezra Robert and Vernice Chandler Jones. She grew up in St. Louis where her love of music started at a young age.

She began using her God given singing voice at her church as a child. She was gifted on the piano, organ and guitar. She also spent time with the Lester family to help perfect her skills on the accordion.

She served many years as a singer and organist at Gospel Tabernacle in Esther, MO. She continued her service of God as a singer at Bethel Apostolic in Amory and Aberdeen Church of God. She also performed at the Mainstreet Opry in Amory, where she received multiple vocalist awards.

Not only was she a gifted vocalist, but she was a gifted writer as well, amassing a collection of 100 songs she had written. She married the love of her life, Jimmy Galloway on February 21, 1959 which was just the beginning of 59 and one half years of love and laughter. In those years, they were blessed with 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Her most cherished times were spent with her family. Her greatest joy in life was the transition from Mother to Grandma to Granny. She spent her life making her house a home for everyone.

She always had a smile on her face and words of encouragement to everyone she met. She collected bells for years, many of which were special gifts from family and friends. She also enjoyed sending out cards and letters of encouragement to family and friends.

She gave her life to the Lord at 9 years old, and faithfully served him for 69 years. Everyone that came in contact with her could undeniably see the light of God living within her. Her family has the assurance of knowing that our loss here on earth, is truly Heaven’s gain.

We know that she is now teaching the angels how to sing. Funeral services for Mrs. Galloway will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Bethel Apostolic Church with Rev. Coy Hill and Rev.
