Lisa Danielle (Thomas) Shaffer, 44, of Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 after a long struggle with addiction and mental illness. The daughter of John R. and Peggy A. (Myers) Thomas, she was born November 20, 1973 in Indiana, PA. Lisa was a 1992 graduate of Indiana Area High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree as well as a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

She was previously employed by Adelphoi Village and The Open Door. She is survived by her parents; daughter, Arianna Alyssa Elkin, Indiana; son, Griffin John Elkin, Indiana; sister, Lori L. (Mark) Martin and their son, Dylan, Phoenixville, PA. Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Louise (Thomas) Brodish and Harry and LaVerne (Backus) Myers and her second husband, Charles P Shaffer.

At Lisa’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Lisa’s memory to the Armstrong-Indiana Drug and Alcohol Commission, PO Box 238, Shelocta, PA 15774.
