LLOYD’s Obituary Lloyd Riley, 67, of Askov, MN, died on Monday, March 4, 2019, when he reluctantly surrendered to his 13-year battle with cancer. He went on to meet the Lord peacefully with his loving wife Kitty by his side. He enjoyed many visits from family and friends over the last few weeks at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

Lloyd was born March 12, 1951 in Pleasanton, Texas to Homer and Evelyn Riley. He attended East Central High School in San Antonio where he graduated in 1969. In 1971, Lloyd joined the US Army and fought in Vietnam.

During his 5 year enlistment he proudly served alongside his two brothers, Wayne and Henry. After an Honorable Discharge from the military, Lloyd returned to Texas where he went to work on the oil rigs. In the 80s he began driving trucks and continued throughout the rest of his life.

In 1993, he made the move to Minnesota. Lloyd met Kitty Jorgensen in 1999 and they were married August 8, 2010. Together they founded K&L Transport in 2005.

Lloyd seemed to be happiest behind the wheel, but when not on the road he had a variety of interests and loves. He held family and friends most dear to him and loved his home, especially taking pleasure in the yard and wildlife on the property. He found great joy in the challenge of finding loads to the southern states where he could visit with family and friends.

The month long vacation with Kitty in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico each year was important to him to relax and recharge. Lloyd also delighted in the quest to find shiny chrome things to embellish his truck. He was preceded in death by his parents: Homer and Evelyn Riley and his brother Wayne.

Lloyd will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Kitty Jorgensen-Riley; his children: Lloyd Riley Jr. and wife Kimela of Stockdale, TX; Tanya Johnson and husband Chester of Adkins, TX; and Jason Riley of Wilmar, MN; step-son: Shane Meyer of Pleasanton, TX; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother: Henry Riley of Sequin, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 12:00 NOON until the 1:00pm Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Pine County Historical Society Event Center, Askov, MN. Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake, MN.
