OBITUARY Lois Collison (Loie) Wrenn October 11, 1921 – December 15, 2018 Lois Collison (Loie) Wrenn, 97, passed away on Saturday, December 15. A private family Mass will be said at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, North Gate with Father Scott Winchel officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carlyle Place, 5300 Zebulon Road, Garden Home # 53. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the charity of your choice or to Holy Angels, Inc., 6600 Wilkerson Blvd. , P.O. Loie was born on October 11, 1921 in Arcadia, Iowa (Carroll, Iowa). She was the youngest of 7 children, daughter of the late John Rickard Collison and Cora Maloney Collison. She attended St. Angels High School and Iowa State University.
In 1942 she settled in Norfolk, Virginia along with her sister Irene. She worked for IBM as a key punch operator at the Nansemond Ordnance Depot in Portsmouth, Virginia. Her boss there introduced her to his good friend George Wrenn, a young Naval Officer.
Loie married Ensign George LeRoy Wrenn in 1943 at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. After the war Loie and George moved to Greenville, South Carolina and started a family business with George’s two brothers. A few years later the couple moved to Atlanta where their three children were born.
In 1954 they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to accompany the relocation of the home office of Wrenn Brothers. George passed away in 1992 and in 2007 Loie moved to Macon and lived at Carlyle Place. Loie was a past member of Crosstowners Garden Club, past member of Myers Park Country Club and Honorary member of Quail Hollow Country Club all of Charlotte.
She was also past member of Grandfather Golf and Country Club in Linville, NC. In Macon she was a member of the Callaway Society and a lifelong member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Mrs. Wrenn was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Wrenn and her son Paul Preston Wrenn (1947).
She is survived by her daughters, Valery Landers (Larry) of Macon and Kathryn L. Mattingly (Jack) of Woodstock, Georgia; and her son, Randy Wrenn (Ann) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and 3 grandchildren, Lori Mitchell (Todd), Wrenn Landers (Haley) and Elizabeth Brundage (Tom); and 7 great grandchildren.
