Obituary for Lora Mae Schubnell Lora Mae Schubnell left this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born April 8, 1937 in Yukon, Oklahoma to parents Lodie and Lewis Bales. She graduated from Yukon High School in 1955.

On May 27, 1960 Lora married her sweetheart, John Rayburn Schubnell, also of Yukon, Oklahoma. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before John passed away in 2011. They designed and built their home on the family farm NW of Yukon where they raised their two children, Allison and Roger Schubnell.

Lora Mae worked as a Bookkeeper at Kimball’s Wholesale in Yukon for 10 years. She volunteered for many years at her kids’ schools in the library. She later worked for United Pharmacy as a Bookkeeper and Pharmacy Technician, and then at Edward Jones Investments in Yukon.

Lora always helped Rayburn with their family farm, even with hard work such as hauling hay and building and repairing fences. She also worked with her husband to take care of Frisco Cemetery and their financial records. Lora was a wonderful cook just like her mother.

She loved to cook for her family, especially during the holiday seasons. She also played the accordion and loved to play the piano. She was a wonderful loving mother and grandmother and took pride in her kids and grandkids.

Lora treasured their family vacations. The family loved their trips to Ouray, Colorado, and Lora enjoyed sitting in the Wolf Creek Pass Ski Lodge drinking hot chocolate while the family went skiing. She also enjoyed their family vacation to Banff and Calgary, Canada.

After retirement, Lora and Rayburn took a very memorable trip to Alaska, which they enjoyed immensely. John and Lora were some of the founding family members of Town & Country Christian Church in Yukon, where they did everything from planting and mowing grass, cleaning the church, and preparing communion. Lora absolutely loved her kids and grandsons and loved hearing about everything going on in their lives.

Lora was preceded in death by her husband, John Schubnell, her parents, and her four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter Allison Riddick and husband John of Harker Heights, Texas, her son Roger Schubnell and wife Pamela of Yukon, and four grandsons – Michael Riddick and wife Ciara and great granddaughter Collins of Waco Texas, Dillon Riddick of Austin, Texas, and Jordan Schubnell and Jaxon Schubnell of Yukon. Funeral Services will be Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 2pm at Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon, with burial following at Frisco Cemetery.
