Lorna Jane (Kempen) Van Handel, age 90, passed into eternal life on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Brewster Village surrounded by her loving family. Lorna was born on March 20, 1928, daughter of the late Peter and Johanna (Coenen) Kempen. On September 6, 1948 she was united in marriage to Wilfred Van Handel at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Wrightstown.

Lorna and Bill farmed in the area their entire lives. Together, Lorna and Bill enjoyed square dancing, polka music, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren.

Lorna is survived by her twelve children, Mary (Don) Clousing, Bob Van Handel, Joan (Jeff) Lamers, Ron (Jackie) Van Handel, Dan (Cathy) Van Handel, Dave (Lin) Van Handel, Steve (Kris) Van Handel, Larry (Kelly) Van Handel, Julie (Charlie) Gross, Dennis (Tina) Van Handel, Don (Sandi) Van Handel, Laurie (Terry) Leitzke, 27 Grandchildren and 18 Greatgrandchildren: Andy (Tiffany) Vande Hey and their children: Quinn and Zane, Mike (Charlene) Van Handel and their children: Caleb and Ethan, Nicole (Andrew) Selbo and their children: Natalie and Levi, Katelyn (Casey) Helmrath, Crystal Lamers, Rebecca (Ryan) Branta and son Christopher, Josh Lamers, Jeremy (Lisa) Van Handel and their children: Jaden, Kaily and Degan, Jonathon (Kayla) Van Handel and their children: Kennady and Payton, Jordan Van Handel, Ashley Van Handel, Zack, Jacob and Kaylee Van Handel, Tara (Tim) Rushmer, Luke (Alexandria) Van Handel and son Benjamin, Patrick (Amy) Van Handel-McCabe, Megan Van Handel, Mollie and Hattie Berndt, Caleb and Joshua Gross, Ryan and Rachel Van Handel, Erin and Brienn Van Handel, Tyler Leitzke and fiancée Michelle, Keri Leitzke, children: Elijah Ebben, Faith and Gabriella Leitzke, William (Chelsey) Leitzke and son Milo. She is also survived by three sisters: Arlene Bruecker, Janice (Erv) Nettekoven, and Laverne (Dave) Wiegert, Brothers: Harry Kempen and Jerry (Geri) Kempen, Sisters-in-law: Lucille Kempen, Sue Datta. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred Van Handel and his 10 siblings, son in law Marvin Vande Hey, Grandchildren: Tiffany Lamers, Jonathon Leitzke, brothers: Marvin, Bonnie (Ann), Dick and Paul Kempen.

Brother in law Roger Bruecker. Sister-in-law Frances Kempen. The Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday October 13, 2018 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Dr. Appleton, with Fr.

Don Zuleger officiating. Friends will be received on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Boettcher Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at which time prayer service will convene the evening. Friends will be received again on Saturday directly at the church from 10:30 am until the time of services.
