Lorraine Raskin, 90, of Prairie Village, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Graveside funeral services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6900 Troost, Kansas City, MO at Noon on Wednesday February 13, 2019. The family requests contributions in her memory are to St. Luke’s Hospice House, 3516 Summit, Kansas City, MO 64111, or The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, 12320 Nall Ave.

, Overland Park, KS 66209. Lorry was born June 16, 1928 to the late Ben and Rose Lipman in Springfield, MO. She was a graduate of Springfield High School where she found joy in her involvement in theatre and cheerleading.

Following high school, Lorry continued her education at the University of Missouri where she met the love of her life and her future husband Bob Raskin. The two were wed on May 9th, 1947. Lorry and Bob ultimately settled in Prairie Village where they welcomed their three children, Debby, Marty, and Ben.

They were active member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah where Lorry served actively in the Temple Sisterhood and expressed her faith and her creativity through the creation of decorations and centerpieces for Temple events. For their participation Lorry and Bob each received Lifetime Achievement Awards from B’nai Jehudah. Her love of writing and journalistic skills she applied with award winning success through a long career writing for the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle and other publications.

Lorry loved to play Mahjong and cards and spent many an afternoon and evening with life-long friends sharing the joy of camaraderie. She was an avid reader and loved to cook. She loved to share and focused her life around friends and family.

Lorry is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bob, her daughter and son-in-law Debby and Steve Agron, son Marty, and son Ben and his wife Donna. Her spirit and smile will be greatly missed but her memory will continue forever.
