Obituary for Louis Kronenberger, Sr. FORT WORTH – Louis Kronenberger Sr. passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. at the age of 94. Louis was born in Bremond, Texas on Feb.

7, 1924. After attending secondary schools in Bryan, Texas he eventually joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940, at the age of 16 and helped built the infrastructure of the current National Park System. Louis was drafted into the Army Air Force on his 19th birthday and served during World War II in several overseas campaigns stationed in Cairo, Egypt and Rome, Italy as an aviation mechanic until his discharge in 1945.

After his military service he settled in the Fort Worth area and established his family after marrying the former, Verna H. Lero. They eventually had two sons, Louis Kronenberger Jr. and Clarence Kronenberger. As a skilled steel-worker and foreman, Louis was instrumental in building many of the highway bridges in the Houston area.

After being widowed in 1948, he eventually married and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maria Magdalena Kronenberger. They established a life and small business in the Fort Worth area. He was especially talented and skilled at producing small metal work projects for several businesses.

He became known for building barbeque pits for cook off competitors and individuals. From time to time he enjoyed serving as a judge in local competitions. Louis is survived by two sisters, Christine Apperson and Wanda Moore; his two sons and their respective families; four grandchildren, Michelle, Kellie, Christopher and Charles; and five great-grandchildren.
