Louis’ Obituary Louis “Steve” Mamakos, 85, of Palm Coast, passed away on Monday January 28, 2018 in Palm Coast. He was born on December 14, 1933 in Washington, DC to the late Steve Louis and Gertrude Mae Mamakos. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1957.

In 1994 he retired after over 20 years with National Geographic in Washington DC. Prior to that he was employed by EMR (Electro Mechanical Research) building space craft in Greenbelt, MD. Steve moved to the Palm Coast area in 2004 from College Park, MD.

He enjoyed woodworking, animals, boating, motorcycles and photography. Steve did not like idle time and was always building something. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Cloyce, whom he married on July 17, 1959; son, Keith Mamakos of Williamsburg, VA; three grandchildren, Michael Mamakos and his wife Stacey, Brian Mamakos and Mallory Mamakos; one great-granddaughter, Ellie Mamakos; nephews, Jeffrey Clemons, Richard Clemons, Michael Dixon and Glen Dixon; and nieces, Vicky Davis and Lisa Beck.

Memorial Donations may be made in his memory to The Flagler Humane Society, 1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, FL 32137. A Visitation will be held from 4:00-4:30pm on Saturday February 2, 2019 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast. The Funeral Service will be held at 4:30pm also on Saturday February 2, 2018 at the Funeral Home.
