Lowell’s Obituary Lowell Emerson Woodward, 85, passed away January 19, 2019, at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado. He was born June 7, 1933, to Russell E. and Lorraine E. (Gilfry) Woodward in Snyder, Colorado. He attended Snyder schools through tenth grade.

Then, because his parents wanted a “protector” for his grandmother and aunt who lived together in Fort Morgan, Lowell stayed with them and attended Fort Morgan High School, where he excelled in wrestling and football. He graduated FMHS in 1951. He earned a B.S. degree at Colorado State University.

In 1952 he married Phyllis Kingcade, also of Snyder. They celebrated their 66th anniversary in September. For twenty-one years he operated the dairy that was part of Wildcat Ranches, in Snyder, which he owned jointly with his brothers John and Barton.

Other occupations he engaged in included teaching science to fifth and sixth graders, teaching in an alternative high school, serving as a school custodian, and “riding ditch” for Riverside Irrigation District. He grew up working on the farm and riding horses and was rarely seen without his cowboy hat and boots. Lowell was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Brush, Colorado, and in later years attended Snyder Bible Church.

He was a member of Gideons International. An avid reader of the Bible himself, he enjoyed placing Gideon Bibles in motels and handing out Gideon New Testaments to school children. He taught Sunday School for many years and was involved in a prison ministry.

He was always eager to tell others of the love his Lord and Savior had for him and them. Lowell’s family remember him as a man of God, a man of integrity and honesty. He enjoyed working outside and helping his grandchildren with their 4-H animals.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis; one daughter, Jannifer (Dennis) Brandenburg; grandsons Tristan (Stacia) Brandenburg and Cameron (Tessa) Brandenburg; granddaughters Heidi (John) Albin and Meridith Brandenburg; one great-granddaughter, his namesake Emerson Brandenburg; and one brother John. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Donovan, Russell, Eldon and Barton Woodward. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 11:00 AM at the Snyder Bible Church in Snyder, CO.

Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Gideons International Bible Society.
